Mr. Nance, after graduating for the University of Miami in 1956, served in the US Army 1956-1957, worked for the State Attorney's Office in Miami 1957-1958 and then moved to private practice. In 1963 Mr. Nance limited his practice to personal injury and wrongful death. Most recently, Mr. Nance's firm was one of the nine Florida firms representing the State of Florida in a suit against the American Tobacco Company, et al., which settled for $11.3 billion in August of 1997. Mr. Nance's legal memberships include; Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, Brevard County Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, American Bar Association, National District Attorneys Association and Law Science Academy of America. Mr. Nance's trial lawyer memberships include; New York State Trial Lawyers Association, California Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice (Founder), Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (Diplomate), Association of Trial Lawyers of America (Sustaining Member), Roscoe-Pound-American Trial Lawyers Association (Lifetime Fellow), International Academy of Trial Lawyers (Fellow), The Inner Circle of Advocates (President 1981-1983), and the American Board of Trial Advocates. His Board Certifications include; the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a civil trial advocate and the Florida Bar as a civil trial lawyer. In addition to his several past directorships Mr. Nance currently maintains directorships through the National Board of Trial Advocates, the South Brevard American Cancer Society, the Inner Circle of Advocates and The Bank, Melbourne, Florida. He is a frequent author and lecturer and a member of several community organizations.
